Book Review: Can’t Hurt Me
On a recent flight, I read a book by the infamous David Goggins of YouTube fame. At least, that is where I first heard of him. I saw him mentioned on Joe Rogan’s show, and he would pop up when I was looking for motivational videos to watch.
Honestly, at the time, he just seemed like a super motivated motivational speaker who was a little over the top. This turned out to be not far from the truth. However, most guru types you come across are all-talk frauds. Their stories are full of carefully crafted allegories to win people over. Not this guy. At least not from what I could tell. His story is horrible, fantastic, and motivating all at once. This blog will give my thoughts on his fascinating and insanely motivating book, Can’t Hurt Me.
Finding your infosec tribe
Many people get into cyber security because they look at the dollar signs $ and think “yup this is the way to make some money”. And that’s cool. However, if you are reading this, I am hoping you are thinking “this sounds like a good time”. To me there are two types of people in this career: the 9 to 5ers and those who dive into cyber security (information security) as a lifestyle. If you are going to be spending at least 40 hours a week doing something you may as well enjoy it.
